New Epic 6 Info.

I know that there is information going around on the net about issues with some Epic machines. Some cutting mats are having issues and Quickutz is working on a fix for those with an issue. I have seen videos with solutions. Please do not go ahead and do what they say. Do not add the magnetic sheets without some testing.
I had an issue with cutting some 4x8 fonts on my demo machine and that is it. All I did was put an extra piece of cardstock underneath the font and it cut properly. I made the mistake of adding the magnetic-it will not work on most machine and you will break your machine. All it is is that some fonts or dies need a shim, use the one that came with the die or a scrap piece of cardstock. And remember very few machines have this issue.
As for embossing with Texturez Plates from Sizzix. Use the embossing platform(and I did not realize that they were labeled until after I wrote on mine), the texturez plate, the silicone mat from Sizzix and the QK embossing mat. That is it.
I have also found that the Epic embosses the Qk embossing folders much better than the Revolution and the Big Shot.
Now QK is releasing their own rubber embossing mat to impress with cookie cutter dies, they will be shipping in the next bit.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Our next shipment of Epics is due today. We will have only 3 available from that shipment for sale, after that we have no idea when we will get more.
And our Epic sale ends Aug. 1.
Happy Scrapping.

Quickutz Epic 6

Well it has finally arrived to our store. The Epic 6 by Quickutz.
What does this baby do?
It cuts and it embossses.
The Epic 6 comes with a 13x6 in cutting mat and 2 platforms(which I will talk about later).
It has a smaller footprint and is lighter than the Big Shot and it is a better price.
Cutting Dies:
To cut Quickutz and Spellbinders dies including Nestibilities you use the light grey platform and the cutting mat. They cut nice and clean.
To cut Cuttlebug, BossKutz and Sizzilets you use the dark grey platform and cutting mat that is included.
To emboss using Quickutz Folders, Cuttlebug Folders and Sizzix plastic folders you use the dark grey platform and cutting mat. You can also use the clear plastic Stampin Up embossing folders as they are made by Sizzix.
To cut Sizzix Bigz Dies you use 2 cutting mats. The biggest problem is that you can not purchase the another mat at this time from Quickutz. Soon they tell me. I did get a cut from a Bigz snowflake die using the Epic cutting mat and another 12x4 in Quickutz cutting mat. I had trouble getting a clean cut on the XL dies as they are too big for the 12x4 mat. But of course I only have on Bigz die to my name.
Let's compare it to the Big Shot. To cut border dies like the Quickutz or Sizzilet bars with the Big Shot you need to purchase extra platforms and cutting mats. All the platforms and cutting mat are included with the Epic 6.
To cut Bigz XLs with the Big Shot and Epic you do need to buy extra mats for both.
The big thing is that the Epic 6 is less expensive than the Big Shot.
Compared to the Cuttlebug. The Cuttlebug at this time does not have a platform that allows you to easily cut the Quickutz 4x8 fonts, Quickutz borders. And it is not equipted to cut the Sizzix Bigz dies.
Quickutz stands behind their products. You get a limited warranty on their machines. If there is a problem and your machine needs to be repaired, you must pay for it to be shipped back to them but they will fix it and return it to you. As long as it is a manufacturer's defect. Sizzix has no warranties. In fact I have a Sizzix Die that does not cut properly and I am stuck with it. Quickutz would have sent a replacement in a heartbeat.
Overall the Epic 6 is less expensive and includes pretty much all you need for die cutting. You just have to wait for that extra mat for the Sizzix Bigz dies. And with the extra dollars that you save you can buy more dies.
So we at Canadian Scrapper have a few more machines due in the last week of July and they will continue to be part of our special. Quickutz is offering their mail in free die till the end of Aug. Canadian Scrapper's free 4x8 font or border die offer ends Aug. 1.
Happy Scrapping.

Beyond Frustrated

Ok this has probably been the worst week for shipments. And I am not a fan of UPS. They have found our Epcis which were due in yesterday. They are in Windsor now but they are telling me that they can't be delivered until Monday. Of course we are closed and they will not change the delivery address to my home and they can't tell me a time to meet the truck here either. So it looks like late Tues. Sometime we get lucky and if I have my regular driver he will sometimes take the packages to my home but don't count on it because with my luck he will be on vacation.
And our shipment of Copics and accessories is stuck at Customs in Windsor still. And they can't be delivered until Mon. either.
I am so sorry to those who wanted to come by and see the new products. I will post as soon as they arrive. This is all beyond my control.

Freight Train

Wish I knew a song about a freight train and a sad one at that. Our Epic's are taking a journey around the US on a freight train. So no Epic's today.
UPS said they will update me tomorrow. I did explain we needed them for Sat. With muffed tears in my voice.
Good news is we get in more Copic Colours and some of the small Air Brush sets tomorrow unless UPS looses those too. But they are in Windsor right now.
I will update.

Epics are in Ohio

What? At 9:20 this am they were in MAUMEE, OH. The UPS site is blaming misrouting by Rail transport. As long as they get to Windsor by late Wed. we are still good.
I will post as they move along.
Getting Anxious.

I was told that my demo machine should ship today. Yeah. As soon as I have a delivery date I will post. And it looks like they will only be sending my 4 extra machines in the first order. Boo Hoo. And one is already spoken for. My rep. is away this week so I will not know when the rest of the order will ship till next week but I do know that any that I order from now on will not ship till late Oct.
